e-Mentor Pro provides secure e-mail mentoring for
young people. It is a service designed to: -
· protect the mentee
· be powerful yet simple
· reduce coordinators work
· record all that happens
· produce statistics
· be secure against hackers
· text the mentee when he has an e-mail
· e-Mentor Pro works well with face-to-face mentoring
· encrypt recorded data and real e-mail addresses
· check for suspicious words and phrases
· random-check e-mails

e-Mentor Pro supports a mentor with multiple mentees and vice versa. It is designed so that people may play several roles, for example a coordinator may also be a mentor, and some mentees may also become mentors of younger children.

Most of our users use a mixture of Face-to-Face (F2F) and e-mentoring because they complement each other.

The system is built around the protection of the mentee. Authority
to enter the system and pair the participants flows from the top,
based on best practice child-protection.

When the coordinator starts the mentoring pair then they can send mentoring e-mails via the system to each other. Neither will know the real e-mail address of the other.

Real e-mail addresses are held securely encrypted in the e-Mentor Pro database. All mentoring e-mails pass through e-Mentor Pro and are recorded so that there is a record of all that happens. As it arrives, each e-mail is checked for suspicious words and may be referred to a coordinator. A random selection of the e-mails is extracted for inspection by the coordinator.

Once mentoring has begun, the mentor and the mentee will receive their mentoring e-mails from e-Mentor Pro at their normal e-mail address or by logging on to the web site, and can send their mentoring e-mails using their normal e-mail process or through the web site.

SMS 2-WAY - optionally, mobile phone texts may be used as an extra communication method - each message can be sent and/or received on mobile phone in addition to emails through the system or using standard email. Also, in an emergency, a mentee can send a text to an emergency number, which allows them to instantaneously alert the emergency services and helps to locate the mentee. each message is sent in triplicate to the three media, and the text is logged and time-stamped.

Mentors generally use their normal e-mail processor as part of their daily work. Mentees can use either the school e-mail system or the website to read and reply to mentoring e-mails. If they are registered for SMS 2-way, that is added as a third method.

FORUMS
e-Mentor Pro also includes support for forums which are like a public
noticeboard on the web which all the members can see and where each can add his or her opinions. These forums are intended to build a community of interests and to share knowledge and experience and have the same protection as e-mails.
